The Runaway Chapati has been the focus book for our enquiry into traditional tales this half term. We have been learning how traditional tales change as they are retold many times. The Runaway Chapati has many similarities to the Gingerbread Man, for example.

In class we created a story map to help us retell the Runaway Chapati in many ways, using actions to remember key words and phrases. The story map was sent home this week- please encourage your child to use it to retell the story to you.

To support your child’s learning at home, please visit BBC bitesize to discover traditional tales from around the world.

Do they have the key ingredients of other traditional tales?

Key ingredients: Magic of three, a happy ending, talking animals, goodies and baddies, royalty and magic.
